Frankenstein
The Borrowed Body
He learns to ask for a place. Then he learns to threaten.
Adapted and prepared for publication by Mehmet Gökhan İnce
Original work: Mary Shelley, Frankenstein. EPOSENA edition: Mehmet Gökhan İnce.
About the book
Behind a cottage, a stranger learns words by listening to the family inside. When he discovers that stealing their food leaves them hungry, he starts gathering firewood for them. One day, he hopes to knock and be offered a place beside the fire. Victor Frankenstein, who brought him into the world, has already abandoned him.
Learning to read leads him to Victor’s journal. Where he seeks an account of his beginnings, he finds disgust. When he confronts his creator, he has a story and a demand: a companion. Refusal will put other lives at risk.
Adapted from Mary Shelley in black-and-white manga, this edition gives weight to both the creator’s responsibility and the creature’s choices. Listening to the injustice he suffered cannot excuse the harm he threatens. Between their accounts stand people who never chose this bargain.
